On Trumpet: Steve Nelson

Steve Nelson plays trumpet and flugelhorn with the group. He is an emeritus professor of marine biology at the University of Guam, currently a research scientist at the University of Arizona and he plays in a variety of musical settings in Tucson. In addition to his involvement with the Retro Swing 7, he is the lead trumpet for the Rhythm Gang, a big band focusing on the classic swing sounds of the 30's and 40's. He also plays Bb cornet in the Old Arizona Brass Band, which re-creates the 4th Cavalry Regimental Band of the late 1800's in Arizona. He is a member of the International Trumpet Guild.
