On Alto Sax: Lois Smith

Lois played sax for 10 school years, adding clarinet the last five. After a 17-year leave to raise a family, she took up playing again and for 35 years has played alto sax, clarinet, and occasional bari sax, in Tucson Concert Band and dance groups. In the early 1980's she and two other “gals” formed an eight-piece group, called it The Fairer Sax, and averaged two gigs a month for its brief period of existence. She and her husband, guitarist Howard Smith, are founding members of Retro Swing 7.
